Patinated Bronze Figure of Faun with Kid

Description/Notes:
Fine patinated bronze group, after the antique, of the Faun with Kid on a rectangular base, Mid 19th. C., measuring 27 1/2" high (70cm). The antique sculpture of the Faun with kid was discovered between 1674-1676 A.D. in Rome during the opening of the new road adjoining the Chiesa Nuova; It is thought to be a 2nd century A.D. Roman copy of a bronze original of the 3rd. century B.C. It is now housed in the Prado.
